While in New York, Ali worked as a skate mentor with STOKED, an action sports mentoring program working with at-risk youth in the Lower East Side. She did art direction for the short film "Breathe," filmed in Oakland in 2007, and she has fond memories of her last major acting role, in which she played a granny potato in her middle school's spring variety show.

Shane Boris - Script Supervisor

Shane Ostroff Boris grew up like a kid in 1980s America. He did it with gusto. Broken bones, lost loves, burning stars always eluding his clumsy, generous graspings. He then left the 80s for middle school and all the other educations that followed. He tried a number of tips: the holy be; the enlightened listen; the ecstatic Hoo-rah! He read Hollywood scripts in India. He taught science to homeless kids in Denver. And he sometimes believes some things are worth the effortlessness of trying.

Julia Febiger - Production Assistant

Julia currently works for GirlVentures, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower adolescent girls to develop and express their strengths through outdoor adventure programs, creative arts, and group experiences. An avid runner herself, Julia has also been a volunteer coach for Girls On The Run, a curriculum-based running program for girls ages 8-13. Next fall, Julia will pursue a master's degree in "Human Development and Psychology" at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Julia loves playing outside and is excited to join the "Elementary Cool" project. She has a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Italian from Bowdoin College.

Phil Gorrindo - Production Assistant

With long-standing interests in child development, Phil's curiosity first led him to the Yale Child Study Center. As a Donald J. Cohen Fellow, Phil developed novel eye-tracking tools to index social insight in children with autism. Phil is currently a MD/PhD candidate at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development, where he has studied basic mechanisms of neurodevelopment. His current project examines the genetics of autism. Additionally, Phil leads a health education program at the Shade Tree Family Clinic, a free medical clinic for the uninsured and unserved in Nashville, where he is developing strategies to improve childhood nutrition by increasing access to fresh produce and addressing eating behaviors in youth. Phil recently brought all of his interests together in a social experiment, Bananas for All, in which he gave away free bananas to children while dressed as a banana. Phil graduated in 2003 from Yale, with a degree in molecular biology.
